Cinnamon Spear '09, MALS '13

An honest discussion about rape as a tool for colonization and ongoing sexual assault in Indian Country, including a spoken word performance debuting a new piece.

Cinnamon Spear (Northern Cheyenne) is a writer, filmmaker, and beadworker from Lame Deer, MT. She is a Dartmouth '09 who majored in Native American Studies, and a Masters of Arts in Liberal Studies '13 concentrated in Creative Writing. Cinnamon worked as a public affairs specialist for the Indian Health Service, both at the Headquarters Office in Washington, DC and the Phoenix Indian Medical Center in Arizona. This spring, Cinnamon will complete a Masters of Fine Arts in Fiction from the Iowa Writers' Workshop.
