Indigenous Surfers


 
NAS professor Nick Reo (Anishinaabe) is making a new Indigenous environmental studies documentary called "Local Motions". It is about kaihekengaru (Māori surfers), their unique connections to the ocean, and their responsibilities to care for and protect their coastal homelands. Reo’s film team includes two Dartmouth alumni, Dan “Roche” LaFranier ’17 and Joe Fairbanks ’17. Filming begins in February of 2020.

Colin Calloway Wins the George Washington Prize for American History

"Professor Colin Calloway has received the George Washington Prize, which recognizes the year’s best new works on the nation’s founding era, for his book The Indian World of George Washington."
