PETER APFELBAUM & NICOLE MITCHELL
Dartmouth’s all-student jazz ensemble collaborates with two of the most original instrumentalists/composers/bandleaders in jazz and creative music! Apfelbaum, who plays tenor saxophone, piano, drums, percussion and melodica, is best known for leading The Hieroglyphics Ensemble and The New York Hieroglyphics and for his work with Omar Sosa, Dafnis Prieto, Carl Berger and Don Cherry. The music of Nicole Mitchell (“the most important jazz flutist of her generation” – AllAboutJazz) celebrates African American culture while integrating new ideas with the sounds of jazz, gospel, experimentalism, pop and African percussion.
Events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.
